Any aircraft structure will have a number of mechanical resonances arising from its mass and stiffness, including the stiffness of any joints. Those resonances can result in excessive vibration if they coincide with particular forcing frequencies associated with the aircraft, e.g. the main propeller blade passing frequency.
Cranfield Aerospace Solutions Ltd (CAeS) has extensive experience of performing experimental Ground Vibration Tests (GVTs) across all types of aircraft installations ranging from full aircraft surveys to the identification and mitigation of resonance frequencies for helicopter installed equipment.
