Chris Earnshaw has been appointed non–executive Chairman of Cranfield Aerospace Limited with effect from 1 May 2010.  He replaces Maurice Dixson who retires after nearly seven years with the company as Executive Chairman.

Chris brings with him extensive experience as an executive and non-executive director in high technology and service businesses.

He was a member of the BT plc Group Executive Management Board from 1991 until 2002 and was Group Engineering Director with responsibility for engineering and technology matters across the company worldwide. Prior to that he was Managing Director BT Networks and Systems responsible for the operation and development of the company’s infrastructure, procurement and R&D programmes. From 2004-2007 he was Chairman of the UK Police IT Organisation providing strategic national IT systems and services. He has also undertaken a number of advisory roles to UK HMG related to information and communication industry policy.

Chris is a former member of the Court of Cranfield University and currently Chairman of Cranfield Ventures Ltd and CIT Holdings Ltd. He holds a number of other non-executive board positions. He is a past President and Chairman of the Trustees of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and former director of the Engineering and Technology Board. He is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering.

Chris is a graduate of Sheffield University (BSc Sp Physics) and an Honorary Fellow of University College London.
