Wendy Brandon

Contracts Manager & Trials Assistant - Friction Surveys.

Wendy’s time is taken up with managing and co-ordinating the friction surveys activity. This involves liaising with existing customers and searching for potential new customers, discussing airfield and helideck test requirements; mobilising to test venues both within the UK and overseas for military and civilian operators. Managing tasks to ensure that they stay within budget and bringing each project to a successful conclusion.

Wendy joined Cranfield University in 1976 and in 1977 transferred to the College of Aeronautics (Aircraft Design) in a secretarial role, where she remained for 11 years. Whilst taking a short break, Wendy continued to work on an ad-hoc basis within the College of Aeronautics. Upon her return to Cranfield University in 1993, Wendy joined the Aircraft Engineering Group (AEG) on a part-time basis, providing admin support to the General Manager’s PA. During this time, Wendy also took up a part-time dual post as Senior Cashier and Customer Services Advisor at the Argos Showroom in Milton Keynes.

In 1998, Wendy joined Cranfield Aerospace Limited as Group Administrator in the Environmental Sciences Group (ESG). In 2001, due to restructuring within SST (formerly known as ESG) and as a result of an increase in business, Wendy became PA to the Head of SST. Following the retirement of the Senior Trials Engineer for Friction Surveys in 2003, Wendy also took on the challenging role of managing the Friction Surveys activity.

During the summer of 2007, Wendy relinquished her position as PA to concentrate her career fully within Friction Surveys. In addition to her commercial duties, Wendy’s new role as Trials Assistant has enabled her to work at many military airfield and civilian airport locations within the UK as well as recently supporting a trial at RAF Gibraltar.
