Single-axis seat
The CAe G-Seat can provide realistic motion cueing for the complete flight envelope of a modern fighter aircraft. This is achieved by a combination of lowering the seat slightly, (which changes the eye height) whilst raising the seat pad. The pilot feels ‘squashed’ into his seat. The visual cue coupled with the ‘G’ force effect can be sustained throughout a manoeuvre or varied as more ‘G’ is pulled.
For negative ‘G’, the seat is raised and the seat-pad lowered whilst introducing tension on the harness. The pilot will feel ‘lifted’ out of his seat. This is very different from a motion platform which can only simulate the onset of ‘G’ before the motion has to ‘wash-out’.
Two control modules provide rapid and accurate motion cues in the vertical axis. They also provide high frequency responses for simulating aerodynamic buffet, runway surfaces, rotor vibration and gunfire.
