Paul Lewis has been the head of Cranfield Aerospace’s Safety and Suitability Technologies Group since 2012.
He received a BSc in Aeronautical Engineering from City University and joined Hunting Engineering Ltd as a stress engineer. After a 17-year career spanning many roles and departments, including stress, trials and systems, Paul decided on a change of scenery and moved to Cranfield Aerospace Ltd. to work in the field of measurement and analysis of the effects of mechanical environments. As head of group, Paul manages systems analysts, trials and instrumentation engineers, friction surveys team and administrators.
Furthermore, as the group’s technical lead he is actively involved in data analysis, assessment and research tasks. Paul is a registered Member of the Royal Aeronautical Society and has written over 60 technical reports for a variety of customers in the fields of structural vibration, shock and fatigue. Paul has presented research including advances in analysis techniques in the UK, Europe and the USA.
