Peter Howarth
Chief Designer
Peter is the Chief Designer for Cranfield Aerospace, functioning within the EASA Part 21 approved design organisation as both Head of Design and Chief of the Office of Airworthiness. As such he is responsible for all aircraft design and certification work within the company.
Peter led the company through the process of gaining the new EASA approval in 2005. He is also responsible for all military aircraft design work under the company's UK MoD DAOS (Design Approved Organisation Scheme) approval.
Peter has been with Cranfield Aerospace since its formation in 1997 and during that time has been responsible for a wide range of programmes, from being Design Authority for the Jindivik UAV target system to leading the aircraft modification activities on types such as Jetstream 31, Jetstream 41, BAe 146 and Harrier.
He has been at Cranfield since 1990, previously being the Senior Stress Engineer within the College of Aeronautics' Engineering Unit prior to its absorption by Cranfield Aerospace.
He is a Chartered Engineer and a Member of the Royal Aeronautical Society, and has an Honours Degree in Aeronautical Engineering.
