Rotary Wing Aircraft (Helicopters)

The CAe motion cueing system for helicopters uses the features of a multi-axis G-seat, with the vibration element enhanced to provide a continuous cue.

The CAe motion seat system is designed to provide acceleration cues in the vertical (heave), longitudinal (surge) and lateral (sway) directions and vibration cues. These accelerations cues are provided by three methods:

  • Eye position movement (kinaesthetic)
  • Pressure (somatic) cues, from actuators placed within the seat bucket. Variations in harness tension will enhance the emulation.
  • True vibration and buffet acceleration cues are provided, these cues are normally based on real aircraft data, the seat is capable of generating frequencies greater than 40 Hz. This capability allows rotor vibration effects to be accurately reproduced including harmonics of the basic rotor frequency. Similarly, aerodynamic buffet, ground running and other vibration based cues can be handled.
