Project Outline:

To work with EASA to approve an STC application for the ATLAS™ active winglet solution developed by Tamarack Aerospace Group Inc., USA.

Project Description:

Tamarack have developed a novel, active winglet solution which includes a load alleviation device. As a result, the ATLAS™ system allows the winglets to be designed to maximise fuel savings and does not compromise the wing size or shape for reasons of wing loads and added structure. No additional wing strengthening is required and without the need to make structural modifications to the wings, the downtime and costs of installing the active winglets is greatly reduced.

Cranfield Aerospace acted as the design authority for this modification in accordance with its EASA 21J approvals and worked very closely with Tamarack to secure the EASA STC for this device for application to the Cessna CJ1 family of aircraft. The first installation is shown on the image below.
